Hague System for International Designs
This is the system governing the registration of international designs. The international design registration system is administered by the World Intellectual Property Organisation in Geneva. On 15 February 2010, there were 37 Contracting States party to the system, though neither the UK nor the US is not one of them.
The advantage of the system is that an applicant can apply for design registration in a large number of countries in a single application, in one language and with one set of fees to pay.
UK residents and businesses are entitled to apply for registration by virtue of the EU being party to the system.
